Kolkata Knight Riders v Deccan Chargers 11/04/2011

Kolkata knight riders vs Deccan chargers

It will be a crucial encounter for both the teams. A loss here will push the team back to two losses in a row, which will make qualification for the next round that much more difficult – this year, there are two extra teams fighting for the same number of slots in the playoffs.
Kolkata v Deccan odds:That the Knight Riders 4/5 lost in the first game wouldn’t have come as a surprise to many, given their previous record and the fact that they were playing the magic-boy of contemporary Indian cricket, MS Dhoni. Yet, between the two teams, Kolkata and the Chargers, the Knight Riders played better than what the Deccan Chargers 1/1  had in their game against the Rajasthan Royals and the turning of the corner may not be too far.
Ground and Pitch:
Eden Gardens is one of the best grounds in the country when packed. The question is, whether it will be packed in the absence of the crowd-favourite Sourav Ganguly. The pitch will be much slower than some of those found elsewhere in the country, which is why both sides could look at getting in the spinners for this game.
Player News:
Kolkata, despite their loss, should not make dramatic changes to the line-up, probably only to the order. Gautam Gambhir  had pushed himself down to the number six position instead going at the top of the innings that he usually does. There is a chance that he may still open with Manvinder Bisla and Jacques Kallis, but replace Yusuf Pathan at the number three position.
The side will need Eoin Morgan  to show the kind of form that he has displayed on international circuit in the IPL as well. He hasn’t had the best of times in either the previous tournaments here or in the first game and since he occupies a very important number four position, a lot will be expected out of him.
Deccan may need to add firepower to their batting. Without Cameron White and Kevin Pietersen in the line-up, they are in a dire need for someone to come in and toy with the bowling – something that they lacked in the previous game. Kumar Sangakara  failed to open his account and that was hopefully an aberration to his otherwise stretch of good form leading up to this World Cup. JP Duminy frittered away a start as well, as did most other batsmen like Daniel Christian  and Shikhar Dhawan .
What the Chargers will need is for one of them to go on to bat through the innings.
Forecast:
Kolkata 4/5 should be favourites but they will be up against Dale Steyn and what looked like a fired-up Ishant Sharma in their game against Rajasthan Royals. An interesting battle ahead, our prediction is  kolkata to win todays match.
